Based in Brighton, we offer an intensive 9 week City & Guilds accredited training program designed to take complete beginners through to fully certified Barbers. Our unique pathway doesn’t just stop at certification, graduates gain real client experience in our academy, progress into Empire barbershops, become Academy educators and even go on to become franchise owners. Student Training
Intensive 9-Week City & Guild accredited Barbering program. We provide a fast-track pathway into barbering, taking beginners through foundation, craft and mastery stages. Students gain hands on training with expert educators and real clients, finishing fully certified and career ready!
Barbershop Training Environment
Our Academy’s are run in a real life barbershop style environment where the public can access professional standard haircuts at reduced prices while supporting the next generation of barbers. Students can expect to do 120 haircuts in real members of the public, boosting them straight to barbershop ready post training!
Career Progression
From Graduate to Franchise Owner… Empire isn’t just a course - it’s a career pipeline. Graduates progress into Empire Barbershops, have the option to train as educators, and even own and run their own Empire Barber Academy franchise within our global network!

From First Clipper

Never held clippers properly before?
No problem! We'll start with the basics: tools, grip, guard sizes, blending and foundation work. We will train you through our 3 stages… Beginner, Craft and Master.
Certified Barber
Congratulations!
You've completed your 9 week course and are now a qualified Barber. Not only that you have practised on real people, not just theory. You are Barbershop ready!
On the Job
Paid Work In Our Partner Barbershops
Empire has placed you into work in one of our amazing partner barbershops. You are putting into place all of our master barber training alongside our social media training, gaining super important experience while developing all your skills and earning some real money!

We host live barbering and social media demos and workshops from the UK's best-known barbers and educators
TRAINING STARTS
Work on doll heads to learn clipper control, techniques, scissor work and customer ready prep. Complete theory coursework and exams so you are ready to focus on the barbering!
Client Practice
At the start of week 3 you start cutting your first live clients! Practice fundamentals under supervision. This is also the beginning of your social media training, with help on how to properly setup accounts, increasing engagement and most importantly, converting those engagements to future clients!
Skill Mastery
Build your fade game, master beard shaping and sharpen your scissor finesse.
Refinement
Get consistent, refine your techniques, add flair and input your personality into the haircuts. Learn tricks from Empire Educators. NVQ assessments completed.
Business Focus
You are now shop ready. Master techniques, refinement, customer care, and business training. Participate in a competition judged by special guests. Students will then be taken out on the final day for a team celebration event!
